new anatomy

What we learn and see about the body creates certain kinds of concepts in our minds. It makes certain bodies and certain ideas of the body visible, and takes others out of focus.

The New Anatomy tries to change and extend those concepts by applying the strategy of using words and images as tools to officialise ideas.

It is a game of rewriting, of creating new terminologies, identifying and naming new body parts, in order to make visible the unknown and the unnamed, and to create space for the “other”, for the non-normative, for the non-evident.

The New Anatomy generates a knowledge, which is at the same time very precise but also flexible, questionable and changeable, as is our body.
